    The Security committee is responsible for benchmarking services, managing communication and driving the cost efficiency of security for the shopping centre industry as a whole.

    Our main objectives are:

    • To develop a common platform for security communication within malls.
    • To review shopping centres related security laws to improve their relevance.
    • To develop a mechanism for sharing first hand security alerts.

    The Education committee will be responsible developing value added networking for all stakeholders and also defining and executing annual awards.

    Our main objectives are:

    • Creating a baseline of currently available programmes and address the training gaps that exist for the industry.
    • Developing world standard curricula with local institutions to promote the right careers and skills for the shopping centres industry.

    Our main objectives are:

    • Promoting SCAK through articles and media coverage.
    • Developing quarterly newsletters and informative member packs.

    Vision 2030 Committee

    The Vision 2030 committee will be responsible for driving sustainability and resource efficiency across the value chain of the industry from an environmental, social and economic perspective.

    Our main objectives are:

    • Exploring opportunities for sustainable resource utilisation.
    • Exploring opportunities for sustainable recycling of customer packaging through appropriate consumer engagement.
    • Exploring opportunities for effective and sustainable management of operational and construction waste.

    Lobbying Committee

    Our main objectives are:

    • Developing a checklist of all necessary regulatory requirements for the development and management of a shopping centre.
    • Driving for 0% duty and tax on security items.
    • Accessing infrastructural development plans to facilitate better mall location selection and complement development plans.

    Research Committee

    The Research committee will be responsible for defining a baseline of key measurables for the industry and commissioning value added credible research for the progress of the industry.

    Our main objectives are:

    • Development of a baseline of all shopping centres’ current status to help define both current and future targets.
    • Creation of a data bank of shopping centres in Kenya.
    • Providing in-house research service with clear criteria that are local, value added and current to drive revenue.
